Young Danielle Moulder, one of 4000 Canadians
waiting for an organ transplant, passed away on May 28, 2005, becoming one of the 200 who die each day waiting for
a transplant.
Sport Fest Windsor and our supports offer our prayers to the Moulder family. We believe Danielle would still be
alive today if more people signed their donor cards and the laws governing organ transplants were changed.
Another reason to talk to your family and sign an organ donor card.
Danielle was a special young woman and was the pride and joy of her family. Her passion was reading. Her
library consisted of such a wide variety of books from English classics, Shakespeare, World religions, Art, to
Stephen King. She possessed such talent as a self taught guitarist, violinist and pianist, a poet, unbelievable
story writer and artist. She was a friend to so many and was always there for anyone whenever she was needed. She
was so loved.
When Danielle became ill with liver disease, she accepted it in the hopes that something good would come. Two
months after being put on the transplant list, and after being hospitalized in Windsor three times, she was
admitted on May 13th, 2005 in London.s Health Sciences Centre, University Campus Transplant unit. We waited with
her for that "special gift". On May 24th, she became so much worse and had two Grand Mal seizures where she had
stopped breathing and was then transferred to the ICU unit. Time was running out and she needed a transplant as
soon as possible.
That "special gift" didn't come.
On Saturday May 28th, 2005 at 7:05am, Danielle took her last breath. Our precious daughter was gone to
hopefully a very special place prepared just for her. Oh, how we miss her laughter, her humor and our family
talks.
This note is not to just speak of our daughter but to also emphasize the importance of being able to give that
"Special Gift".
Organ donation is not a trivial matter of course, but it DOES save lives, it can also improve quality of life
by allowing someone to see again.
Please review the Organ donation information, speak to your families about your wishes and sign your donor
card. Remember: "You can't take them with you to heaven". You never know what awaits you or a member of your
family.
Sincerely,
Francine Moulder
