Kidney Transplant - Dennis Segatto
Dennis J. Segatto, born and raised in Windsor, married 23 years to Niva, and has a daughter Bianca, who attends te
University of Windsor.
Dennis was diagnosed with kidney failure in January 1979, placed on hemodialysis until his first transplant in
July 1979. This transplant started showing signs of rejection in late 1988, and recieved a second transplant in
March 1989 which rejected 3 years later. During this time, he had gone on peritonal dialysis, which is easier on the
body and and allowed him to be home with his family. In May of 1994, he recieved his third transplant, and still has
it today. All of his surgeries were done at University Hospital in London, Ontario.
He has competed in the following transplant games:

- 1600 meter run
- 400 meter run
- 4x100 relay
- Ontario Transplant Games, Brampton, Ontario, Canada, 1996
- Bronze in the 100m and 200m sprint
- Gold in the Ball Throw
- World Transplant Games, Sydney, Australia, 1997
- 7th place in the Race Walk
- 12th place in the 1500 metre run
- 5th place in the 4x100 relay
- National Transplant Games, St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, 2002
- World Transplant Games - Nancy, France, 2003
- 6th in Squash
- Lost in quarter finals for Tennis doubles
- His wife Niva was the Canadian Team Manager
